Holiday Job! Evening Ticket and Guest Services Agent

The Arboretum will host an annual holiday season light show and celebration of winter in the garden. Guests will walk through displays created from thousands of lights that will transform the Arboretum grounds and gardens into a nighttime wonderland and festival of family activities. Winter Lights will offer a unique outdoor, evening experience for Arboretum guests and will create a new tradition for North Carolina and the Southeast.

This position will perform box office sales for the Winter Lights show using the Altru database and provide guest services. These duties will include answering telephone calls, providing excellent customer service through various forms of communication, processing refunds and exchanges and general troubleshooting. It will require answering questions, assisting customers with and is solution-based.

This position will also help volunteers record and tabulate their contribution to the event.

Salary will be $12 per hour for this position and work hours will be from 5 until 9:30 p.m. Shifts will be rotating. Evenings, weekends and some holidays are required.

Employment will be from November 6, 2017, until December 31, 2017, and will include some holidays.

Relevant knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Customer Service: This position will require strong customer service skills including a solid knowledge of event procedures, attentiveness to customer feedback and the ability to use positive language.

• Communication: Must have excellent and courteous written and verbal communication skills for interaction with both internal and external publics. Ability to screen and direct clients and visitors to the appropriate source, inform the public about services, processes, procedures and guidelines. This position will need to follow both written and oral instructions.

• Work Management: Ability to coordinate tasks and establish priorities in response to work flow, be detail-oriented and have a high level of organization. Must be able to manage multiple projects with accuracy and exhibit stellar time management skills.

College degree is preferred. 2 years customer service, retail, or sales experience is required as are general computer skills including but not limited to Gmail and Microsoft Office Suite.
