Pharmacy Summer Intern (Remote)

  • Learn various job functions within the Managed Care industry and explore various career opportunities
  • Apply academic knowledge and learn new skills by contributing to various projects
  • Communicate project status and results to staff mentors and management
  • Research various legal, regulatory, and other topics within functional area and industry
  • Attend training and development presentations to enhance professional competencies

This role will allow you to work remotely for Summer 2023.

Position Purpose: The objective of the internship is to gain an understanding of the process of applying clinical and operational concepts in a managed care setting. This internship will provide the ability to work with an internal interdisciplinary teams as well as working with external stakeholders. Learn about various processes and functions within the Managed Care industry and develop professionally by contributing to projects that support the business.

Duties:
  • Therapeutic Interchange and provider education
  • Utilization Management (proposing PA criteria and Quantity limits to TX Medicaid)
  • Assist with Pharmacy Lock-in reviews for Medicaid and Ambetter
  • Assist with any recurring pharmacy reporting
  • Assist with clinical policy review process
  • Longitudinal projects may include a drug monograph and Journal Club

Education/Experience: Current enrollment in an accredited Pharm. D program with and ability to participate in an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotation. Student applicants must be in good academic standing in their respective institutions.
