Grant and Proposal Writing Internship

Job Summary 
The Business Development (BD) team researches new grant opportunities, writes proposals to secure funding, designs new programming for Anera projects, and compiles reports for donors during and following program implementation. The position is available beginning May 15, 2023 and runs through August 11, 2023 (dates flexible). Successful candidates should be available 30-hours a week with opportunity to work up to 35-hours a week and be authorized to work in the U.S.
Note- remote work eligible for the following states: D.C, VA, MD, NC, SC, GA, FL, MA, NY, MS, MN, TX, IL, IN, RI

Internship Responsibilities  
The Business Development Intern will work with the BD team, assisting members of the team with projects including but not limited to:  
  • Proofreading/Copy Editing – assisting the BD Proposal Coordinator, Program Officers, and Director with the preparation of final documents for new grant applications.  
  • Background Research and Writing – researching background information for context analyses for Situation Reports.  
  • Meeting Minutes – taking detailed meeting minutes in transcript style and compiling a list of action items for each internal BD team meeting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Extensive experience in drafting and writing research papers.  
  • Ability to work remotely without constant, direct supervision.
  • Experience with Google Suite, especially Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Slides and Google Sheets.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the Middle East and Levant region (Lebanon, Palestine and/or Jordan) preferred.   

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, history, political science, English, or other writing/research-intensive liberal arts degree. Current college juniors and seniors with strong writing and research skills will also be considered.
