NCPIRG State Advocacy Intern

ABOUT NCPIRG
NCPIRG is an advocate for the public interest. We speak out for a healthier, safer world in which we’re freer to pursue our own individual well-being and the common good.

The problems we address aren’t progressive or conservative — they’re just problems that no one should tolerate in an age of great abundance and technological progress. That’s why, with your help, we’re working to find common ground around commonsense ideas.

Currently our team of staff is working to take on common sense issues to protect consumers and public health, such as addressing our plastic pollution crisis, ensuring consumers have the right to repair their stuff, and helping North Carolinians take advantage of recently passed clean energy incentives. ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
We’re looking for students who care about solving the problems that America faces. As an intern with PIRG, you’ll help us educate and engage people on the important issues we're working on. Whether it’s by getting our issues into the media, helping to grow our coalitions or organizing events, you’ll be helping us build the public support it takes to win.

If you agree that America has more problems than we should tolerate, but also understand that there are plenty of solutions to these problems that we should be putting to use, then you should apply for an internship with PIRG.

We’re looking for students who care deeply about solving these issues and are ready to make a difference now.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • You’ll learn how to analyze problems ranging from public health, to consumer protection, to transportation — all while pushing for smart solutions and building the public support it takes to win.
  • You’ll work side-by-side with one of our organizers, learning the ropes of activism and grassroots political organizing.
  • You'll attend briefings and trainings to learn even more about our issues and gain organizing skills.

LOCATION AND TIMELINE
NCPIRG is hiring remote or hybrid interns across North Carolina. We accept internship applications on a rolling basis and are currently seeking interns for both spring & summer 2023.

To apply, send a copy of your resume and a brief cover letter addressing why you are interested in the position and what skills make you a good fit for the position to NCPIRG State Director, Katie Craig at kcraig@ncpirg.org

PIRG is an equal opportunity employer.
