Spring Intern, Transaction Acceleration Group

Interns learn about clean energy including how energy customers across all sectors, like Google, General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, and Citi are shifting the energy system, while building professional skills across a wide range of topics within the clean energy space. 
 
Internship Overview/Summary:  
As an intern with the Beyond the Megawatt (BTM) team, you will drive work to embed principles of equity, environmental sustainability, and resilience into clean energy transactions. The BTM initiative, part of the Clean Energy Buyers Institute, aims to maximize co-benefits of clean energy by leveraging the buying power of large energy consumers in the procurement of clean energy. 
 
Core Intern Responsibilities: 
  • Research, compile and analyze information related to the Beyond the Megawatt initiative, with a focus on the diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) pillar  
  • Assist in logistics and planning of multistakeholder convenings  
  • Assist in planning and development of written communications, webinars, and events 
  • Assist in outreach and communications to increase awareness of the Beyond the Megawatt initiative 
  • Research and compile data to understand the social and environmental impact of the program on the clean energy market 
  • Other duties as assigned 
 
Required Qualifications 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. 
 
Preferred or Additional Qualifications: 
  • Partial completion of undergraduate degree in environmental science, sustainability, business, policy, or another related field  
  • Experience with research and data analysis 
  • Passion for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice 
  • Passion or experience in environmental justice work 
  • Desire to learn and impeccable attention to detail  
  • Self-motivated and dynamic workstyle  
  • A commitment to CEBA’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence (RISE)  
 
Internship Structure: 
  • Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Benefits: Interns are not eligible for benefits including health, dental, vision, paid time off, and paid sick time. Interns receive pro-rated holiday pay during CEBA’s organization-wide holidays. 
  • Educational credit: Eligibility for credit is determined by your educational institution. 
  • Schedule: 20 hours/week. Weekly schedule to be determined with your supervisor, capped at 20 hours.  
  • Orientation: All interns are required to virtually attend two welcome and orientation sessions on January 23rd. Exceptions may be considered after hire.  
  • Content: Interns work directly with CEBA’s programs and quickly become an important part of the team. You work with a Supervisor who guides daily work, and a Mentor who ensures a positive experience and continual growth. Interns will identify 2-3 key objectives which are intended to be met throughout the course of the internship, agreed upon with your Supervisor, to ensure a mutually beneficial internship experience.
