Marketing Assistant - Photography Spring 2023

This position is designed for students interested in growing their professional development through the creation and photographic material for Highsmith. The Photographer on the Highsmith Marketing Team will work collaboratively with colleagues and staff alike to produce high quality content for marketing purposes, be that through usage on social media, in graphic designs, or additional media. This position is responsible for assisting in the creation of comprehensive marketing photos/videos, shooting and editing photos at Highsmith Student Union events, and creating additional marketing collateral for future usage through professional Adobe software. Additionally, the Marketing Assistant is expected to communicate effectively and professionally with their team, staff members, and patrons of the Highsmith Student Union.

A. Job Responsibilities and Expectations
  1. Demonstrate a working proficiency with photography techniques and software including Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and/or Final Cut X.
  2. Attend campus events and capture photos or videos as needed.
  3. Work with the Marketing Manager to produce and distribute media content.
  4. Work collaboratively with the Marketing Team, especially the Videographer, to complete projects on schedule.
  5. Develop creative and innovative solutions to each problem.
  6. Maintain a high standard of quality in work.
  7. Consistent communication via email (24-48 hour turnaround).
  8. Seek additional training when necessary from their supervisor and the Marketing Manager.
  9. Ask for clarification when faced with obscurity.
  10. Effectively communicate professionally with the team, staff members, and patrons of Highsmith Student Union.
  11. Attend weekly Marketing Team Staff Meetings.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

B. Job Requirements
  1. Currently enrolled UNC Asheville student
  2. Moderate technical knowledge of computers and software such as the Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office and the Google Software Family
  3. Moderate technical knowledge of cameras and video production.
  4. Flexibility in scheduling
  5. Able to work at least 10 hours per week as required

C. Physical Requirements
  1. Lifting 30-40 pounds (equipment & supplies)
  2. Bending and reaching
  3. Standing/sitting for long periods of time
  4. Handwork
