Marketing Assistant - Graphic Designer (Fall 2022 - Spring 2023)

Job Summary:
This position is designed for students interested in growing their professional and creative development through the creation and distribution of promotional material for Highsmith Student Union and foundational patrons. Graphic Designers will work closely with other members of the Highsmith Marketing Team to produce high quality graphics ranging from, but not limited to, posters, flyers, social media materials, brand assets, building materials, and digital signage, through the use of professional creative software. Additionally, the Graphic Designer is expected to communicate effectively and professionally with their team, staff members, and patrons of Highsmith Student Union.

A. Job Responsibilities and Expectations
  1. Work under the Highsmith Marketing Manager, along with the Marketing Team members, to produce graphic design pieces.
  2. Must have familiarity and experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  3. Work collaboratively with the Marketing Team to complete projects in a timely and professional manner.
  4. Work through a creative and innovative marketing process to problem solve with clients, colleagues, and staff throughout Highsmith Student Union.
  5. Consistent communication via email, Trello, and Slack. (Response within 24-hours is expected, unless otherwise noted or excused)
  6. Seek additional training when necessary from the Associate Director of Programming.
  7. Communicate professionally with the Highsmith Marketing Team, staff members, and patrons of Highsmith Student Union. 
  8. Attend weekly Highsmith Marketing Team meetings and monthly Highsmith All-Staff Meetings.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

B. Job Requirements
  1. Currently enrolled UNC Asheville student.
  2. Moderate technical knowledge of computers and design software such as the Adobe Suite.
  3. Flexibility in scheduling.
  4. Able to work at least 10 hours per week as required.

C. Physical Requirements
  1. Standing/sitting for long periods of time
