Eaton Intern - Manufacturing Engineer (Summer) - Arden, NC

Eaton is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to be located in Arden, NC for Summer 2022.

Essential Functions
The summer intern will assist the Manufacturing Engineer in the following duties:
  • Provide assistance to line and staff personnel in order to develop solutions for product and manufacturing problems for a complete line of apparatus.
  • Assist in training and development of personnel. Assemble, verify, and analyze the results of others, prepare reports and present findings.
  • Initiate and prepare specifications for products, equipment, tooling, processes, and systems to obtain optimum cost and quality manufacturability.
  • Implement and utilize strategies to ensure concurrent engineering and design for manufacturing concepts with the design engineering team.
  • Investigate and develop understanding of new technologies and processes and be able to assess these from a broad perspective in terms of the impact of the total business.
  • Design, develop, justify, and guide the installation of new engineering concepts, equipment, tooling, processes, and systems through appropriate procedures so that optimum manufacturing cost can be achieved and maintained.
  • Maintain an understanding of JIT, Lean & Agile Manufacturing, Kaizen, TQM, Poka-Yoke and cPQI.
  • Other duties, projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above (Please do not round).
  • Candidate must reside within 50 mi of Arden, NC location. No relocation is being offered.
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior internship experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Candidate with Yellow Belt certification.
  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma concepts preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
