Tax Systems Technician

Job Title:  Tax Systems Technician

This position is posted until filled and may come down without notice.

Purpose of the position:

The primary purpose of this position is to perform specialized technical work, assisting with developing and maintaining a client-based management system and initiating internal process improvements specific to the Tax Department in order to collect, analyze, and distribute data necessary to the operations and business plan of the department.

Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience: (required at time of hire):

Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in data analysis, strategic planning, program/policy evaluation, and/or data management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional Training and Experience:

Must be proficient in Patriot Properties, NCPTS, VTS, BI, ESRI/ArcGIS, Parcel Sync. Knowledge, training, and experience working with SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting, Power BI, and Excel

Essential Functions of the position:

  • Provide and prepare datasets for state and local reporting, media requests, mass mailings, and miscellaneous data requests.
  • Provide and prepare datasets for internal analysis, billing audits, and internal system audits.
  • Collect and audit datasets in preparation for import into the Property Assessment system.
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and IT staff to carry-out and complete projects and essential processes in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner.
  • Develop and maintain data dashboards and perform job functions within internal systems (CAMA & PTS).
  • Assist with testing processes prior to implementing new software, enhancements, and upgrades into Production.
  • Assist in the development of training documents and SOP’s for staff regarding business processes
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of operation of computer equipment and accompanying technology including, but not limited to, monitors, desktop computers, printers, and other external devices.
  • Knowledge of local and regional laws regarding construction, valuation, and assessment of property
  • Knowledge of local and regional real estate market by monitoring sales, construction, reading reports, and scanning local periodicals for new development, education and establishing relationships.
  • Ability to research and maintain a level of knowledge of new technology, systems, and equipment.
  • Proficient in project management, with strong computer software and analytical skills
  • Ability to work within specified workflows and processes
  • Ability to assess business needs and translate into relevant solutions, using analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain courteous and tactful relationships co-workers and the general public.
