Sustainable Agriculture Summer Intern

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Sustainable Agriculture Intern will learn underneath and support the Sustaining Way staff in carrying out Sustaining Way’s mission of empowering individuals and communities to bring about a sustainable and equitable future. This will include supporting staff in maintaining and developing of our urban farm at Annie’s House, and our various community agriculture programs and initiatives.
 
Compensation: Stipend position based on skills/experience and availability

Hours: Negotiable. Typically between 10-20 hours/wk. Also have full time opportunities.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary: Assist Sustaining Way staff in maintaining and developing of our urban farm at Annie’s House, and our various community agriculture programs and initiatives.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
·       Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate pursuing a degree in agriculture, sustainability, and/or other related field;
·       Well aligned to Sustaining Way’s Mission and Values;
·       Passion for sustainability and environmental/social justice;
·       Would benefit from a developmental role;
·       Desire and potential to develop into a leader in social/environmental justice;
·       Skills/interest in sustainable agriculture, organic gardening, permaculture, and/or community agriculture;
·       Good organizational and time management skills; proactive and self-motivated;
·       Ability to perform regular landscaping activities;
·       Works well in team environment;
·       Ability/desire to live/demonstrate how to live a simpler more sustainable life and lead others how to do the same
