Job Coach/Regional Canine Crew Leader

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Job Coach/Regional Canine Crew Leader will be responsible for providing direct job coaching and pre-employment transition services to Canine Leadership Crew members and Canine Leadership Interns in Santa Fe and Espanola, primarily, and with youth members in Albuquerque and Taos, occasionally. This will allow us to expand and enhance our programming for youth outside of Taos who qualify for the program - students ages 14-21, with disabilities or who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing. 

SCHEDULE:
Part-time and full-time; seasonal/temporary and year-round positions, are available, as needed by program and location. Full-time is considered 30-40 hours/week. Locations include Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Espanola, and Taos. Schedule is made on a semester-by-semester basis, to accommodate the needs and schedules of our high school, college/vocational/technical student corpsmembers. Hours may include after-school times (3-6pm) and Saturdays/Sundays, to accommodate school schedules. Applicants must have transportation and willingness to travel to support Youth members. 
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Recruitment/Interviewing/Onboarding/Orientation of new youth corpsmembers
  • Provide support to members to complete online timecards
  • Plan, lead, and provide the Pre-Employment Training Services (PRE-ETS) under supervision of Canine Leadership Program Manager
  • Provide job coaching and job accommodation support as needed to ensure corpsmembers are successful
  • Write monthly reports of services provided; document each service provision in online database 
  • Lead and/or be present for youth work shifts, whether group (crew) based or individual internships, in partnership with partner organizations such as  Assistance Dogs of the West, New Mexico School for the Deaf, Bernalillo County Animal Care Center, and New Mexico Wildlife Center.
  • Lead outreach project focused on educating businesses about the benefits of hiring people with disabilities and inclusive business practices
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required (though an extensive history or experience of working with youth with disabilities may substitute for this requirement)
  • 5 years experience working with youth in group and individual settings
  • Proficient in virtual meeting platforms, Google Suite applications, utilizing email
  • Ability to pass driving background check, and drive 8-passenger, wheelchair accessible, small bus (no special license required)
  • ASL fluency is strongly desired
  • All Rocky Mountain Youth Corps members and staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
