Research Analyst

The Research Analyst develops and maintains large databases for the purposes of research. Conducts data research and analyses to determine the impact of CoreCivic's Reentry Services programs on reducing recidivism. Conducts corrections research, data analysis and reporting.
  • Performs background research on specified topics and synthesizes material in the form of annotated bibliographies and literature reviews.
  • Ensures ethical research practices, support and collaborate on research with government partners, and review research reports prior to release.
  • Develops and reviews research plans, provide comprehensive literature reviews and verifies accuracy and interpretations.
  • Represents CoreCivic's research interests by publishing research briefs, bulletins, and reports as directed.
  • Evaluates research activities with stakeholders, presents study findings and educates others on research activities. Makes recommendations on collection of data elements for research, creates and maintains data monitoring priorities, develops collaborative relationships with Technology staff regarding enhancements to relevant data systems.
  • Identifies information and data collection needs for program evaluation.
  • Develops and maintains research databases. Manages databases, cleans and processes data using statistical analysis software such as SPSS, Stata, or SAS.
  • Produces reports, graphs, and exhibits using Microsoft Office programs such as Publisher, Word, Excel and Access. Transcribes and codes qualitative data from interviews and observations. Analyzes primary and secondary data using basic and advanced statistical methods.
  • Domestic U.S. travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral or Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Sociology or related field is required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Three years' experience planning and conducting data research, including corrections or evidence based practices, determining study methods and procedures, analyzing data, developing recommendations, implementing strategies and preparing reports of findings and recommendations is required.
  • Advanced training and/or professional experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods and multivariate statistical analyses is required. Demonstrated ability to write research reports for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability using SPSS, SQL or Access is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age. A valid driver's license is required.
