Summer 2021- Simulator Software Engineering

PSEG is seeking a summer intern to work with the Simulator Software Engineering team
 
The successful intern will assist in the maintenance and development of software utilized in a Full Scope Nuclear Power Plant Control Room Simulator. The candidate will assist in the development and maintenance of real-time software models of Nuclear Power Plant electrical, control and fluid process systems, using commercial and custom software package. The models and written in FORTRAN computer programming language and C++, Visual Basic, and/or UNIX are also used. Duties will include regular verbal and written communications with co-workers, management, vendors and customers (Simulator Training Instructors), as well as detailed record keeping and documentation.
 
Required Education/Skills: The successful candidate (s) must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Computer Architecture or similar related major. Candidate must have completed sophomore level coursework by the start of the internship program to be considered. the ideal candidate will have knowledge of or experience with the following compute languages: FORTRAN computer programming language and C++, Visual Basic, and/or UNIX as well as windows operating experience. Ability to identify and troubleshoot simulator software issues, including development and implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Must meet Nuclear requirements for Unescorted Site Access. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education, which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.  
 
Preferred Skills: 
3.0 GPA;. 
All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the summer period and as business needs warrant. We are targeting: Currently enrolled students (at the start of the internship program), staying in the NJ/DE/PA metro area for the duration of the internship and able to commute to the assigned work location as needed if this position is not remote. Housing, transportation, immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions
