College Legislative Intern

*This position is for the Summer of 2021. Your internship can start on May  1, 2021, with an expected end-date of August 31, 2021

Job Description:
This internship will allow you to work in one of the most dynamic and fast-paced offices in the State Legislature. The position will challenge your knowledge and grow your professional development. You will have a chance to be part of a tight-knit team who strives to further progressive values and uphold the Office to its highest standard. Interns will be given a wide-range of tasks and projects including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting research into various public policy issues
  • Collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to make evidence-based decisions
  • Bill tracking for bills that result from research conducted
  • Assessing community assets within the district
  • Managing and utilizing customer relationship management systems
  • Responding to constituent concerns in the form of emails and phone calls
  • Creating and monitoring communication strategies for the Senator

Job Qualifications:
  • Maintains at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Ability to provide 15-24 hours per week
  • Outstanding record of academic achievement
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong record of leadership in an academic, professional, or extracurricular setting
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the State Legislature
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Flexibility and desire to work on a wide array of projects and tasks
