Manages and promotes the State House Tour Service and Gift Shop.

1) Manage the State House Tour Service and Gift Shop to include designing & performing broad-based marketing, visitor service programs and retail sales for increased economic impact, and to enhance South Carolina’s identity as a destination state.
2) Maintain a factual tour script of the State House building. Contact factual, concise and interesting presentation/tours of the State House. Schedule and confirm tours.
3) Responsible for the supervision of the daily operation of the gift shop including managing staff, tracking budgets, sales projections, inventory control, purchasing, marketing and promoting new merchandise and special sales events.
4) Co-Manages supplemental temporary employee staff of the gift shop and tour office including supervision, delegation of responsibilities and completion of work schedules.
5) Compile and record data, produce reports of State House activity, visitor profiles and group tour tracking.
6) Provide special services and assist other program areas within the capitol complex.
7) Practice and promote teamwork within the State Park Service, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
8) Performs strategic front-line marketing, sales and visitor service programs for the State House Gift Shop and Tour Office.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, communication, marketing or related field and two (2) years of relevant experience in public relations and retail sales (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Additional Requirements:

1) Position requires some driving and travel, with occasional overnight stays. Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs.
2) Ability to coordinate activities in multiple areas of responsibility. Detailed knowledge of marketing/promotional strategies and retail management and general knowledge of South Carolina's tourism resources. Ability to research, organize and compile factual reference data and reports. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to speak publicly, clearly articulating accurate information. Skills necessary to effectively receive, formulate and disseminate information within various applications through the agency's computer network, and operate various audio/visual and office equipment.
3) Must possess a valid SC drivers license.

Actual Job Location: State House Gift Shop
37.5 hours weekly.
