Duties

Summary

  • This position is located in the State Conservationist office, assigned to a field office or area office in the assigned state, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

  • This position provides technical leadership and program direction for Forestry related resource assessment, development of conservation planning alternatives and participate in are wide conservation and watershed planning activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership for conducting resource assessments, development of conservation planning alternatives, utilizing guidance contained in the NRCS National Planning Procedures Handbook.Monitors programs and policies of Federal and state agencies relative to forestland use and management, in order to inform supervisor of potential conflicts or opportunities for collaborationDevelops and implements conservation plans related to woodland planning and utilization of financial assistance program funding to install forestry related practices in the assigned region.Develops and implements training needed by NRCS field personnel and partners for woodland related resource assessment, generation of conservation planning alternatives and implementation of best management practices.Collects data for revisions to forestland related Soil Survey databases and assist in preparation and review of final information for the assigned region.Complete Job Sheets or Implementation Requirements and other reference materials necessary to implement forestry related resource assessment and conservation planning technical assistance.
