Technical Writing Marketing Intern

We are looking for a technical writer intern who advocates the benefits of brevity and delivering the right content for our employee benefit and retirement customers.

This position will report to the Director of Customer Communications for Transamerica Workplace Solutions. The CX team is based in Denver, Colorado and Transamerica has footprints in lots of places like St Paul, Cedar Rapids, Plano, Harrison (NY), and St Petersburg. This position does not necessarily require relocation, but some domestic travel will be required once it’s safe to do so again.

What you will do:
The Technical Writer will lead the creation and day-to-day management of the content for operational customer communications within the Transamerica Workplace Solutions Correspondence Office. This role will be responsible with designing, creating and publishing content that is simplified, has calls to action and delivers concise information with a heavy focus on customer satisfaction.

In collaboration with your operations and technology partners, you will work on the creation and documentation of these information flows within complex processes from concept, wireframes, prototypes, and style guides. This role will succeed on the back of the strong relationships you’ll have to build. That means we’re looking for someone with emotional intelligence, lots of finesse, and the ability to navigate with grace and ease. You’ll also be a liaison with Marketing to ensure adherence to styles and guidelines and to coordinate messaging where appropriate and recommend changes/rewrites to those standards. In this role, you will manage multiple projects in an agile manner and help influence other individuals who develop content as needed.

Skills Required:
  • Experience or academic knowledge in system design and testing
  • Experience or academic knowledge using metrics to drive improvements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish content development standards and governance processes
  • STudents earning a degree in marketing, business, communications or related field.
  • Experience in agile ways of working
  • Demonstrable critical and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate with and persuade stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to accept new challenges/responsibilities and quickly learn and embrace new concepts.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish rapport, credibility and collaborative relationship with stakeholders.

  • Preferred: Experience or academic knowledge in financial services operations and/or other highly regulated industry

Rewards & Compensation

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $17.00-$20.00 an hour for undergraduates and up to $25 an hour for graduate students. This range is an estimate, based on preexisting standards, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
