ASP is an equal opportunity employer. No one will be denied employment on the grounds of age, sex, race, national origin, or differing physical or mental ability. Employment decisions will be based solely on qualifications for and ability to perform the duties of the position for which employment is sought.
About the Position
The Church & Foundations Grant Manager is a part-time role, reporting to and working with the Director of Grants & Strategic Corporate Partnerships, as well as the Senior Director of Advancement.  This position will research and write mini-grants (typically $500-$25,000) among various local foundations across ASP’s 5-state service-territory, as well as among the vast local churches that support our mission with volunteerism.

This part time role will be responsible to pursue program funding from current and prospective local and church foundations through identification, grant writing and reporting. The focus of this position will dominantly be researching NEW funding sources and writing requisite grants.  Additionally, the role will require the ability to form new relationships with decision-makers among diverse foundations and churches. As funding sources increase and there continues to be measurable growth of the ASP Grants Portfolio, overall hours can be increased.

Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities include:
  • Identify, cultivate, and pursue new foundation and church partners, enhancing the current growth of ASP’s Grants Portfolio by prioritizing smaller, regional mini grants.  While ASP’s overall Grants Portfolio has increased significantly in recent years, adding $2.1 million in new grants since 2019, this role will address a gap in our present portfolio, pursuing mini grants in local communities and among local churches.
  • Manage a ‘mini-grants’ portfolio, establishing key relationships and a process for regular engagement and requests (usually annual).
  • Work with Advancement and Ministries departments, utilizing current system of grant tracking, compliance, and reporting.
  • As needed, assist with filing larger and more complicated grants ($25,000-$500,000).
  • Demonstrate a keen sense of curiosity about the foundations and churches who will invest in ASP – forming relationship with key leaders (mission team members, church staff, foundation program staff, etc.), understanding critical philanthropy goals and overlap of ASP programs.
  • Work collaboratively within the Advancement team and across ASP to share ideas, successes and problem solve.
  • Work independently with self-motivation, while remaining connected to Advancement team and role within broader goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Description
The ideal candidate is someone with:
  •  Excellent social skills including the ability to relate in a positive manner with all cultures and socio-economic audiences.
  • Proficiency in grant-writing and written communication. Previous grant-writing experience not required, though advantageous.
  •  Experience with ASP or similar housing organization. While not required, previous knowledge of ASP will be advantageous to communicating unique mission and ethos.
  • Adheres to the highest ethical standards, reflects an optimistic and positive attitude, and conveys sensitivity to the needs of donors, staff, partners, and volunteers.
  •  Self-motivated and a self-starter, often working independently - though capable of working within a team environment. Generates growth and the expansion of one’s own role through measurable ROI.
  • Ability to steward time efficiently, maximizing investment in ASP. [Note: Current other employment may not disqualify the right candidate who has capacity, works efficiently, and communicates clearly.]
  • Able to manage multiple grants and aspects of the role simultaneously, fulfilling deadlines.
  • Highly organized with excellent follow up skills.
  • Desire to serve others by working within a Christian organization.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Compensation
Part time: 15 hours weekly, beginning at $15/hr., or commensurate to experience.
[Note: future hours may be increased due to effective work - as measurable impact justifies further investment.]
