The UNC Asheville Career Center is seeking to add to its Career Peer team. Career Peers serve as the backbone of the office and handle many functions, including drop in appointments, administrative work, and event support. A successful applicant will possess strong customer service skills, the desire to help their fellow students in career exploration and readiness, and the ability to complete projects as assigned in a timely manner. This position will be under the supervision of Cate O'Connor, Student Engagement Coordinator.  

We are hiring to fill two open positions. We’re looking for one of our hires to have marketing experience. Our ideal candidate for the marketing-focused role will have a working knowledge of the Adobe Suite programs; experience creating physical and digital marketing content; and an interest in social media marketing. If you don’t have these marketing experiences but are interested in the other aspects of the position, please still apply. As stated, we are hiring for more than one position so not having marketing experience is NOT a disqualifier.

Essential Duties:

-      Meet one-on-one with students and alumni to provide information and feedback on topics such as resume reviews, cover letter reviews, and more
-      Work collaboratively as part of the Career Center team to plan and execute successful events on-campus; *Please note, this position is expected to be available for all of these events as their student schedule allows even if the event falls outside of their scheduled weekly hours.*
-      Perform administrative duties during all scheduled shifts which includes but is not limited to student appointments check-in, answering phone and emails, and checking the mail
-      Support the Career Center professional staff by completing projects as assigned in a timely manner
-      Support the Employer Relations team in approving employers in Handshake, our online platform
-      Build rapport with students, professional staff, and community partners to ensure a welcoming and credible environment for all as well as encourage students to utilize all available Career Center resources
-      Other duties as assigned
