The Role
CCR is seeking Summer Associates to support our Project Development, Structured Finance, and Investment Analytics teams. Project Development manages the development of solar and storage projects, beginning with site selection and acquisition, and managing all aspects of the project’s development through its 12-36 month lifecycle. The team also handles market entry, competitive analysis and power marketing for Cypress Creek’s growing solar development platform. The Structured Finance team works closely with the Development group to secure debt and tax equity financing for projects and/or buyers to be the long-term owners of the projects. The Investment Analytics team leads valuation for early-mid stage assets and supports project optimization, capital deployment, and portfolio valuation activities.

Development is seeking two Summer Associates who will be based remotely until we are able to identify a safe and effective strategy for the Company to return to offices. Associates will split their time between a 10-week long strategic project, serving as a member of a particular team within Development. Potential projects may include analyzing current market opportunities, improving development operations, assisting business operations or power origination activities. Associates will also support active development of a project or portfolio of projects in a particular market.
The Structured Finance team is seeking one to two Summer Associates based in who will be based remotely until we are able to identify a safe and effective strategy for the Company to return to offices.. The Associates will spend their internship supporting active deals, preparing sales materials, preparing internal Investment Committee memos, refining our internal valuation model and running market simulations focused on hedge pricing in ERCOT or capacity regulation in PJM, etc. Most importantly, the Associates will work closely with the Development team to accurately model out market and project specifics.  
Investment Analytics is seeking one Summer Associate based who will be based remotely until we are able to identify a safe and effective strategy for the Company to return to offices.. Responsibilities will include calibration of our internal valuation model to precedent transactions, early-mid stage project valuation modeling, market entry and regional market review activities, and process improvement to project and portfolio valuation reporting activities.
An effective candidate for all open roles will demonstrate sound industry and project development knowledge, superior leadership and communication skills, the ability to focus on minute details while still seeing the big picture, detailed organization, a desire to solve complex problems, initiative, strong quantitative modeling skills and an excellent ability to work across multiple teams.
 
Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
  • Partner with Department Leads and Executive Management to refine and focus Development strategy and Structured Finance recommendations through quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Quantitative analyses will include: cash flow modeling, forecasting addressable markets and customers, and project cost and schedule analysis
  • Qualitative analyses will include analyzing market conditions, regulatory analysis, EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) RFP bid analysis and analysis of transactional trends/themes
  • Map out and assist with the development of new departmental processes between Investment Analytics, Development and Structured Finance.
  • Support the development of a project and/or projects, working with utilities, municipalities, environmental professionals, legal counsel, engineering, as well as external consultants and EPCs to successfully add value to development assets in varying stages of development.
  • Work cross functionally with project development, Structured Finance, operations and analytics teams to leverage project and financial data systems
  • Support live transactions via preparation of project sales marketing materials and internal Investment Committee memos
  • Develop new process and business intelligence tools to report and track project value creation
  • Support business development and external sales efforts for renewable power sales
  • Support assigned team with day-to-day business activities
  • 40 hours per week, 10 week internship
 
 Qualifications
  • Current 1st year (or 2nd year in dual degree program) graduate student in relevant field of study (MBA, MEM, MPP, etc)
  • BA/BS degree, preferably in a relevant field such as economics, political science, public administration, urban planning, engineering, environmental studies, etc.
  • Demonstrated interest in energy sector, particularly solar PV and energy storage
  • 2-4+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong analytical, written, and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
  • Creative problem-solving and ability to work with ambiguity
  • Drive for quick results, with vision of long-term strategy
  • Ability to collaborate between multiple departments with varying priorities
  • Ability to act independently in an unstructured environment
