Human Rights, Education, and Empowerment New Business Intern (Paid)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Rights, Education, and Empowerment (HREE) internship is a minimum 3-month, full-time paid internship. The internship requires a dynamic, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can take on and lead tasks related to new business research and strategy and proposal management and development. We are looking for an engaged self-starter who is ready to gain hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of the international development field. This role will support our existing portfolios focused on Trafficking in Persons, Child Labor, Girls Education, and Women/Youth Economic Empowerment.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this internship will be a fully remote position but the candidate must be in the United States. 
Essential Responsibilities
New Business:
  • Conduct market analysis to identify and validate new and diverse business opportunities;
  • Research government and international opportunities (USG, DFID, SDC, UN, etc.) as well as foundation and impact investment opportunities;
  • Support the proposal development process through the preparation of pre-capture analysis, organizational capabilities statements, tailoring CVs, supporting recruitment/staffing processes, and other roles as designated;
  • Assist with tracking database updates and intel-gathering on prospective opportunities;
  • Serve as Proposal Manager on select bids and ensure that the team is on track to meet milestones and deadlines;
  • Coordinate and streamline information on behalf of HREE management and senior staff;
  • Other new business research/operational assistance, as needed and available.
Qualifications and Background:
Education:         
  • Recent BA or MA graduate. Alternatively, active MA student available to work full time.
  • Relevant focus area related to HREE’s work including international relations, education, political science, women’s studies, human rights, international law etc.
 Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • International experience preferred.
  • Exceptional writing and other communications skills required.
  • Strong analytical and research skills essential.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience writing or contributing to grant applications/proposals preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, ability to think critically and work independently.
  • Proven commitment to pursuing a career in international development strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) required.
