Corporate Finance Internship

Position Description:
The Corporate Finance organization at First Citizen’s Bank has an established summer internship program. The program is designed to provide an opportunity for you to apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while delivering tangible value to the organization. This program will provide a valuable professional introduction to the finance profession.

First Citizens Bank is seeking two interns for our 2021 summer program.

The Intern is responsible for analyzing financial data in order to prepare financial reports and journal entries, developing and performing data analysis as well as reconcile of complex accounting data and general ledger accounts in accordance with Bank policies and procedures. Research month-end variances to assist management with closing the books, completing complex monthly reconciliations, and other period-end closing items. Assist with matters related to merger and acquisition transactions. Apply accounting policy and procedures to daily activities, demonstrating a solid understanding of accounting; lead or assist in preparation for internal and external audit and merger/conversion issues. Lead and contribute to special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Master's or Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Economics.
• Currently enrolled in a four year institution as a Junior or Senior (or Master's candidate) during the time of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 3.0 GPA or higher
Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving and research skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate well with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Detail-oriented and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy for high volume of transactions.
Ability to work independently and corroborate with others regarding data and/or meet tight deadlines.
Ability to adjust priorities to meet deliverables and deadlines.
