Digital Media Internship [Virtual]


Meridian’s Communications Team is responsible for increasing the organization’s brand awareness and positive public perception as Washington, DC’s most established diplomatic and global leadership institution that strengthens engagement between the United States and the world to solve shared global challenges. Through digital, social and traditional media platforms, Meridian’s Communications Team develops integrated communications strategies to spotlight Meridian’s leadership exchange programs, international delegations, mission-driven events and cultural diplomacy initiatives.

The Digital Media Intern will help support Meridian’s communications initiatives by producing engaging multimedia content for distribution across social, digital and print platforms. The intern can expect to gain experience in content marketing and branding, social media campaigns, data analytics, database management, event production, fundraising, non-profit management as well as business development.

Responsibilities:

  • Create highly compelling visual and multimedia content tailored to engage Meridian’s segmented audiences across social media accounts as well as Meridian’s website and blog
  • Produce original video content and multimedia packages as well as edit existing video footage for posting across social media channels and other digital platforms
  • Enhance Meridian’s LinkedIn content strategy to increase overall audience engagement and cultivate influencers in Meridian’s network to amplify reach and impact
  • Assist with the daily management of social media accounts, including multimedia content creation, editorial production management, social conversation monitoring and community engagement
  • Analyze audience engagement with Meridian’s digital media content and provide regular updates on changes and trends to inform digital media best practices, marketing strategies and other engagement campaigns
  • Curate news articles and stories relevant to Meridian’s mission to post on social media platforms and invite conversation and interaction with our online community
  • Research keywords and trends for consideration of including with Meridian’s digital marketing initiatives
  • Support live coverage of virtual events, including but not limited to live streaming and live streaming
  • Administrative support on Salesforce and Pardot database management; updating Meridian collateral with new branding and messaging, and revamping training materials


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with original multimedia production, including photography, videography, graphic design and illustration, and social media campaign design and management
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Pardot, website writing, editing and coding; content monetization is a plus.
  • Ability to identify stories and elements with viral potential
  • Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data and translate into action plans to elevate digital engagement
  • Strong planning and project management skills, with ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and ability to deliver fast turnaround on deadline
  • Team-oriented and ability to work independently and in an office setting
  • Flexible and willing to take on tasks outside primary responsibilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in digital media, integrated marketing, communications, journalism or related fields; expertise in creative writing, visual design, technical writing or information management is a plus.
  • Interest in international affairs and diplomacy is preferred but not required


Skills:

Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign and Illustrator), Canva, Pardot, Salesforce, WordPress, Google Analytics, Microsoft 365, HTML/CSS, AP Style or copy writing, content presentation and delivery.

Application Details:

Preference will be given to candidates with 16-24 hours per week starting as soon as possible with availability through August 31, 2020. Interns receive a daily stipend.
