Mental Health Advocacy
Passionate about mental health issues? Many individuals with mental illness have difficulty finding and maintaining employment. This internship, hosted by Tarboro Pediatric Psychiatry, aims to identify the specific challenges that individuals with mental illness face when seeking employment within the Tarboro community. The intern will survey local business owners’ experience, or lack thereof, in hiring and working with individuals with mental health challenges; design and implement an educational program for business owners to learn about the benefits of working with individuals with mental health challenges; and create a directory of local businesses interested in hiring these individuals.
